Sevilla También Lee: A Shared Reading Hour on 23 May 2026
Announcement for the reading event on 23 May 2026.
On 23 May, from 10:00 to 11:00 in the morning, Alameda de Hércules will become a shared outdoor reading space for an initiative described as the first of its kind in Seville.

Seville is preparing for a different kind of morning: quiet and moving. On 23 May, from 10:00 to 11:00, Alameda de Hércules, beside the columns with lions, will host a simple but powerful idea: bring dozens of people together to read, each with their own book, for one hour in the same public space.
The initiative comes from El Club De Los Raros, with a clear aim: show that reading is not an odd, solitary or hidden pastime, but a way to find companionship, refuge and connection. Under the motto “One book. One hour. One shared space”, this reading gathering invites everyone to bring the book they are reading, find their favourite spot on Alameda and join a collective celebration of reading.

There will be no readings aloud, no stage and no obligation to join a group. All you need is a book and a wish to switch off. You can come alone, with friends, as a family or as a couple, turning one of Seville’s most recognisable places into a large outdoor library for an hour.
The event is presented as a unique gathering never before held in Seville, intended to make visible all those who find emotion, calm and life between the pages. This different, accessible and free cultural activity aims to fill Alameda with readers and celebrate reading as a shared, modern and deeply human act.
The gathering takes place on Saturday 23 May, from 10:00 to 11:00, on Alameda de Hércules, beside the columns with lions. Admission is free. Registration is not required, but El Club De Los Raros encourages advance registration through this link to help the organisers plan and estimate attendance.
