Where to eat near Seville Cathedral and the Alcázar
Leaving the Alcázar or finishing your Cathedral visit raises the next question: where can we eat without leaving the centre? This guide brings together six options around Santa Cruz, Arenal and the centre, with official menus and maps to choose according to time, budget and whether you want to sit down. It is not a route to eat at every venue: choose one and keep an alternative.
The quick choice: Café Santacruz for breakfast or a kitchen with broad hours; Casa Morales or Bodeguita Romero for tapas; Antonio Romero on Arfe for bar or table service; Veganitessen for daytime vegan food; and Pan y Circo if continuing towards Rivero for food combined with art.

Walking maps: your starting point matters
Each listing has two route links: one from Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, beside the Cathedral, and another from the Alcázar's Puerta del León. These are outdoor reference points, not instructions for entering or leaving monuments. If you have finished visiting, change the origin to your actual location.
Addresses are checked, but we do not publish distances or walking times as if measured. Open Google Maps for its current estimate, allow for your pace and distinguish walking from waiting to eat. Links do not reserve tables and we have not verified route accessibility.
1. Café Santacruz: breakfast and broad kitchen hours
Rodrigo Caro, 11. An option in Santa Cruz for combining a meal with sightseeing. Its official website lists breakfast 09:00–12:00 and kitchen service 12:00–23:30, Monday–Sunday. Confirm service for your date, especially holidays.
The website provides the menu and reservations. We would consider it for a planned seated meal rather than moving between bars. Check table or terrace prices and kitchen availability near closing.
Do not confuse it with Bodega Santa Cruz / Las Columnas: this listing is Café Santacruz at Rodrigo Caro, 11. From the Cathedral area · From Puerta del León
2. Casa Morales: tapas and stews near the Cathedral

García de Vinuesa, 11. Its food offer includes small sandwiches, pork cheek and stews, with dishes such as spinach with chickpeas subject to availability. An alternative for sharing tapas without making lunch a succession of restaurants.
Ask which stew is available and how tapas are served: bar, high tables and seated tables are different. If you need a comfortable chair or have children, confirm seating before ordering. The wine-jar photo is an archive image, not a guarantee of current layout.
Check the hours: the food page and the location and hours page show different information. We therefore do not give a single confirmed time range: ask directly on 954 221 242. From the Cathedral area · From Puerta del León
3. Bodeguita Romero: a tapas stop on Harinas
Harinas, 10. The venue's tapas presentation includes pringá sandwiches, pork cheek and spinach with chickpeas. Start with a small sandwich or tapa, then decide if you want more.
We would choose it for tapas but do not promise quick service or seating. Check the menu at the venue: we do not calculate current bills from old price photographs.
Planning: the website lists closure on Mondays and Sunday afternoons. It gives opening and closing hours but does not clearly separate kitchen hours; confirm before visiting. From the Cathedral area · From Puerta del León
4. Antonio Romero on Arfe: distinguish bar and table
Arfe, 32. The the official Arfe listing describes several dining rooms and seated-meal spaces. The group has other venues: this recommendation concerns Arfe, not interchangeable brand addresses.
Its online menu distinguishes bar and table service. Before budgeting, confirm which menu applies where you will be served and whether those prices apply at this branch. For a leisurely meal, check table availability; for snacks, start with a small round.
As a reference from the published bar section, Piripi is €3, gazpacho €2.60 and tortilla €2.60: €8.20 for food. This is not a set menu or final bill: drinks, bread and possible extras are excluded, and we do not guarantee the same table-service price or that this is enough for lunch. From the Cathedral area · From Puerta del León
5. Veganitessen: daytime vegan food in Mercado del Arenal

Inside Mercado del Arenal, Calle Pastor y Landero. Its official contact information lists stalls 31, 32 and 33. The venue offers 100% vegan tapas, burgers and pastries.
The published menu lists tortilla and ensaladilla at €3.50 each. Together they would be €7 for food only: an example for orientation, not a guaranteed full lunch or set price with a drink. Ask which dishes are available that day.
Its official hours are Tuesday–Saturday 11:00–16:00, kitchen until 15:30, closed Sundays and Mondays. Do not plan it for dinner or a late meal after a monument. From the Cathedral area · From Puerta del León
6. Pan y Circo: food and art on Rivero
Rivero, 11. Its official website describes a restaurant combining food and art. We include it if you want to continue towards the shopping area after sightseeing: it is not in Santa Cruz or beside the Alcázar exit. Check the route before deciding whether it fits your day.
The website offers reservations and lists the phone number 674 819 652. Confirm the menu, budget and service for your date. We do not give a fixed price or a verified kitchen schedule; mentions of event brunches do not make it a regular breakfast recommendation.

What to choose before or after your visit
Before a timed entry: prioritise reaching the monument with time to spare. For breakfast, check Café Santacruz; for tapas beforehand, ask about kitchen service and actual waiting. Nearby location does not guarantee a meal in twenty minutes.
After finishing at lunchtime: consider Casa Morales, Bodeguita Romero or Arfe according to availability and service. For vegan food, check you can reach Veganitessen before its kitchen closes.
If finishing late: check Café Santacruz's published broad hours or confirm another venue's service directly. Bar closing time does not guarantee new kitchen orders.
How to eat on a budget
The €7 and €8.20 examples above are sums of dishes from online menus checked on 10 October 2026, not promises of 'lunch for under €10'. Size, drinks, bread and service location can change the bill.
Before sitting down, check the menu and prices for tapas, half portions and full portions. Ask about extras and do not assume terrace and bar prices match. Set your budget, order a little first and add more if needed. For alternatives, explore our guide to eating well on a budget in Seville.
Vegetarians, vegans and groups with different needs
Veganitessen is the expressly vegan option here, but only during its daytime hours. For other times, use the central Seville vegetarian and vegan guide and check travel and menus before choosing.
At mixed-menu venues, we do not assume a dish is vegan just because it is called gazpacho, tortilla or spinach. Ask about ingredients, garnish and preparation. Tell the venue about allergies or coeliac needs: this guide does not certify absence of allergens or cross-contamination.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book to eat near the Alcázar?
It depends on the venue and service. For a seated meal, check its policy and reserve where offered. We do not assume every bar accepts bookings or has tables available; keep an alternative.
Are the maps complete tapas routes?
No: each link connects a reference point to one venue. Choose one meal according to your plan. For multiple stops on another day, explore our Seville tapas route with a map.
What would you choose with children or for a rest?
We would first consider a table at Café Santacruz or Arfe, confirming seats, space and menu. This is a planning criterion, not certification of children's facilities or accessibility.
