Seville in One Day: The Perfect Walking Itinerary

One day in Seville is short, but you can fit a lot in if your route makes sense. The key is to walk in a logical direction and leave time to soak up the city, rather than rushing from monument to monument.

09:00 — Cathedral, Giralda and Plaza del Triunfo

Start early in the city's monumental heart. The Cathedral, Giralda, Archivo de Indias and Alcázar are all close together. If you only visit two major monuments inside, our choice would be the Cathedral and Giralda, followed by the Alcázar.

11:30 — Royal Alcázar and Santa Cruz

After the Alcázar, resist opening Google Maps straight away. Head into Santa Cruz and let the streets lead you to squares such as Doña Elvira, Santa Cruz or Santa Marta. Extend your walk with our guide to what to see in Santa Cruz.

14:00 — Stop for tapas

You are in a tourist area, but you can still eat well without overspending. See our selection of affordable places to eat in Seville.

15:30 — Plaza de España and María Luisa Park

From Puerta Jerez, walk towards the former Royal Tobacco Factory and continue to Plaza de España. Then head into María Luisa Park and spend at least half an hour wandering with no particular destination.

18:00 — Torre del Oro and the Guadalquivir

Head back towards the river. The Torre del Oro is the perfect starting point for a walk along the Guadalquivir. Continue to the Isabel II Bridge.

19:00 — Cross over to Triana

Triana Market, Altozano, Calle San Jacinto and Calle Betis will give you a first taste of the neighbourhood. If you still have energy, venture a little beyond the main streets.

20:30 — Sunset

Finish by looking back towards Seville from the Triana riverbank, or choose one of our favourite sunset spots in Seville.

The route at a glance

Cathedral → Alcázar → Santa Cruz → Plaza de España → María Luisa Park → Torre del Oro → Triana. It is a demanding route, but it avoids unnecessary detours and lets you finish by the river.
