Seville’s Parks Compared with Parks Around the World

Hello, friends!

Today we’re exploring urban parks. Have you ever wondered how large Seville’s green spaces are compared with parks elsewhere in the world? Let’s find out together!

Comparisons can sometimes be frustrating, but this one is worth making: Seville has parks we can be proud of.

Champ de Mars in Paris

The figures in this comparison surprised me. Miraflores Park, at 940,000 square metres, is almost four times the size of Paris’s famous Champ de Mars, listed here at 240,000 square metres.

The article’s figures also place Miraflores ahead of Alamillo Park at 850,000 square metres, followed by María Luisa Park at 340,000 and Amate Park at 320,000.

Compare Miraflores with South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona, however, and our parks begin to look small. The area quoted here for South Mountain is an impressive 65,559,000 square metres. For another sense of scale, the article gives the whole municipality of Seville an area of 140,800,000 square metres.

Among other famous green spaces, Central Park in New York is listed at 3,410,000 square metres—more than three times the area given here for Miraflores. Spain also has wonderful parks, including El Retiro in Madrid at 1,180,000 square metres and Park Güell in Barcelona at 150,000.
